Since I was little, I have loved collecting and trading pins on trips to Disney World. In the beginning I got a starter set. I would trade and trade and retrade that set. Then my parents got me another set. They would also buy me special pins that I wouldn't trade. I remember my favorite was a pin I got that had a moving a car of Thunder Mountain that I got after I found out that I love the ride. I still love that ride to this day. Those earlier pins are packed away in a memory box. I think at some point soon I am going to have to pull them out and find a way to display them. On my weeklong trip in September, I got back into pin trading. I bought a collector set with 8 pins and a lanyard. I had an amazing time trading them. I have found that as an adult, I am more selective with trading. Then, before my birthday trip, I order a set of 20 pins from Ebay. I made sure they were real, Disney official pins first.

I then realized I needed a way to wear them so that I could trade them. I had too many to wear on the lanyard, plus I didn't like how it felt wearing them. I ended up making something for them. I took pieces of cardboard, wrapping paper and jewelry bags. I took the cardboard and wrapped it. Then I put it in the bags. I cut a hole in the top of each of the two bags and then threaded a key ring through. Then I attached the key ring to the lanyard.

I thought that today I would show you guys the pins I have currently. I am planning on going through and taking the pins that I really love off of the cardboard and possibly putting it on the lanyard. For now I have been keeping the ones that I wanted to trade first on the smaller, blue board.

The two boards

It's not that I don't like these pins, it is just that they are probably not the ones that I want to keep in my collection forever. Having the front, smaller board and knowing that I can trade any of those and be happy with it, makes it a lot easier trading in the parks. The second, white board has the pins that I like more and am more likely to keep. I still may end up trading a lot of these if I find ones that I like better.

Pooh is one of my favorite characters. I also love the vintage Disney pendant. I like the shape of the Ear Hat, but may still trade it.

I love anything that is Mickey shaped.

I have been collecting the Vynalmation shaped pins. I also love the Fantasia pin in the shape of the hat, especially considering the hat at the Studios is gone now.

I am collecting the monorail pins and I thought the Donald one was just cute.

My uncle bought me this colorful, guitar pin. Mickey slides on it.

Another Vynalmation pin, 3D glasses and Mickey mouse logo.

Another monorail, another Vynalmation, a classic Mickey and a pie shaped like Mickey.

A cute T-Shirt pin.

I hope you liked getting a look at my pin collection. I may pull my older pins out and display them. If I do, I will make sure to do a post with those. If I remember correctly, there are a lot of Tinkerbell pins. I loved Tinkerbell. I am planning on doing a lot of trading when I am there next. It is looking like that may be in late April.

Do you trade or collect pins? If you do I would love to see pictures. You can tweet them to me or post them on my Facebook.

  1. Hi, I'm an avid pin (and vinylmation) collector and love how you put your pins on the canvas bags. Totally love it. I might do this next time we are in the parks. :)
